About

I have been covering computer technology and the creative applications used by digital media professionals since 1993, starting with a small regional newspaper called Micro Publishing News, comprised of two monthly regional publications that chronicled users of desktop publishing tools in Northern and Southern California. While serving as assistant editor of those publications, I helped to launch Digital Imaging magazine. In 1994 I moved on to a publication called PC Graphics & Video, which was dedicated to coverage of digital imaging, video, and multimedia tools and the professionals who used the Microsoft Windows platform to create their digital art. I served as associate editor for two years and then served as managing editor of that magazine as well as two other magazines that we launched as bi-monthlies; NT Studio (Digital Studio), (which covered the rise of the boutique digital effects facility with the advent of Windows NT as a viable alternative to the big iron workstations (read SGI) that costs huge sums of money to operate and maintain) and NewTekniques, which chronicled the use of NewTek’s Lightwave 3D in film. I stayed with those Advanstar titles until 1999 and jumped onto the Internet with Digital Media Online, Inc. In March 2010, I launched this blog to keep abreast of cool technology gadgets.
